DESE Survey

DESE and the State Board of Education are seeking stakeholder feedback on a refresh of DESE’s Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan Survey gathers feedback from a variety of stakeholders — including families, community members, business leaders, and educators — on the areas of focus that should be prioritized in Missouri’s Pre-K-12 education strategic plan. The survey is easy to complete and should take less than 10 minutes. Responses are completely anonymous, and all individual input will be kept confidential. The survey is available online, and the deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Every Day Counts: Why Attendance Matters

The Republic School District’s mission is to prepare each student for future excellence through a safe educational environment. Through that effort, we know the importance of students being in school each day, as they gain new skills through challenging and unique learning opportunities.

Even a few missed days can add up quickly. When a student misses just two days of school per month, that’s 20 days per year, including 30 hours of math and 60 hours of reading and writing instruction. Over time, these absences can total more than a full year of learning by the time a student graduates. For younger learners, every day in the classroom lays the foundation for future success. See the graphic for even more details.

Our “Every Day Counts” initiative, launched during the 2023-2024 school year, reminds students, families, staff and the community about the importance of daily attendance.

We ask families to help students understand that school isn’t just a routine, it's the pathway to learning and growth in many ways. Together, we can ensure every student is present and ready to learn, so they thrive at school and beyond. We hope to encourage all students to "be here" so they can "excel everywhere."

For more information and resources related to attendance, click here.

An informational graphic in orange and black with the headline "Every Day Counts" and a tiger mascot logo. Below the headline, the question "Did you know? When a student misses school…" is asked. The graphic is split into two columns. The left column, labeled "2 days per month," states that a student will miss: 20 days of school per year. 30 hours of math and 60 hours of reading/writing. More than one year of school by graduation. The right column, labeled "4 days per month," states that a student will miss: 40 days of school per year. 60 hours of math and 120 hours of reading/writing. More than two years of school by graduation. At the bottom of the image, the phrase "Be Here, Excel Everywhere" is written in script font.

Firefighters dropping a box from their ladder truck

September 17: Sweeny Elementary School students are taking learning to new heights! 🚒🥚

Fourth graders at Sweeny recently learned about the engineering process through the "egg drop challenge." They worked in teams to design a safe landing for their eggs using only a cardboard box and other materials. This hands-on opportunity pushed students to use their communication, collaboration, adaptability and critical thinking skills.

Our friends at the City of Republic MO, Fire Department raised the stakes (literally!) with a ladder truck for the egg drop! Watch this video to hear what students had to say about the learning experience. 🧡 #RepMOProud

From classroom visits to shared smiles and hugs, these evenings highlight the important role grandfriends play in helping students grow.

District employees wearing tennis shoes

September 16: 👟District employees are participating in TENNIS SHOE TUESDAYS! Every Tuesday employees are encouraged to wear tennis shoes with their "RepMO Neighborhood" t-shirts in hopes of inspiring them to get in extra steps and activity for the day! The overall wellness of our employees is incredibly important to us!

We'd like to invite our students to participate as well. One idea is to check out this MILE MAP at this link, which provides (approx) one-mile walking routes starting from each of our buildings!
